Brooks Hatch Blog: Alums Beatty, Bell, Frank Playing Winter Ball

Happy Wednesday, everyone, from the world-wide headquarters (WWHQ) of the Corvallis Knights, your 2016-2017 West Coast League champions!

Time to update the stats of our alums playing in the Australian Baseball league.

Adelaide pitcher Max Beatty (2010-12) is 1-2, 6.98 in four games, with 20 strikeouts in 19.1 innings. Max played at Pacific Lutheran.

Brisbane outfielder Carter Bell (2009) is on the active roster, but has not played yet. He played at Oregon State.

Alum Trevor Frank (pictured above in 2012) is pitching for the Aguilas de Zulia in the Venezuelan Winter League. He is 1-1, 3.32 in 21 games, with a save and 10 strikeouts in 19 innings. He played at UC Riverside.

More than 20 former Knights have appeared in the Major Leagues over the past three decades. For the first time, we are introducing a trading card collector’s series featuring alums who have or who are playing in the big leagues.

For only $15, our Knights in the Bigs trading card set includes a Corvallis Knights three-ring binder to store your cards; three 9-pocket trading card pages to store individual cards; a trading card page filled with Topps baseball cards, in mint condition, of Major League players from 1988-1989; two Knights in the Bigs Collector’s Series trading card sheets featuring Knights alums, and a pouch of Big League Chew Bubble Gum.

Players featured in the Knights in the Bigs Collector’s Series are Brent Morel, Matt Boyd, Greg Mahle, Matt Duffy, Andrew Susac, Sam Gaviglio, Jace Fry, Matt Hague, Josh Osich, Chris Stewart, Matt Andriese, Bud Norris, Tommy Hanson, Mitch Haniger, Jimmie Sherfy, Rocky Gale, Tyler Anderson and Marc Rzepczysnki.

A West Coast League leader in getting on base who is one of the best two-way players in the WCL, and a powerful left-handed pitcher with plenty to prove, will be returning to Walla Walla for the 2018 season. UC Irvine redshirt sophomore OF/RHP Ryan Johnston and UCI redshirt sophomore LHP Dylan Riddle will both return for the 2018 WCL campaign.

That’s all for today. Have a great week and we will see you again on Friday.
