Knights Drop Series Opener at Bend, 4-1

Tuesday, June 29, Bend, Ore. – Longtime rival Bend snapped the Knights 7-game win streak by holding Corvallis to just one run in the Elks 4-1 victory.

in a 2 hour and 25 minute game, Knights batters struck out 16 times. Elks’ starter redshirt frosh RJ Gordon of Oregon tossed 7 innings to earn the win, and struck out 11. Bend did not walk a single Knights hitter. Bend’s Matt Dallas of Lane CC, an Oregon commit, registered the save as the right-hander threw two perfect innings of work while striking out 5.

Corvallis scored in the top of the 7th on a one-out RBI triple by Kiko Romero of Central Arizona to cut Bend’s lead to 2-1.

Corvallis starter Nathan DeSchryver took the loss. The future Gonzaga pitcher tossed 4 innings and allowed only one run while walking 5 and striking out 2.

The Knights and Elks play game two of the series at Vince Genna Stadium tomorrow night at 7:35 pm.

With the loss, Corvallis drops to 14-5 in the WCL South.
