Inclement weather cancels opening series finale at Cowlitz
Sunday, June 2, Longview, Wash. – The June 2 finale of the Knights season-opening series against the Cowlitz Black Bears at David Story Field was cancelled because of inclement weather.
The Knights (3-0 all, 2-0 WCL) took the first two games by decisive margins, winning 10-0 on May 31 and by a 14-1 count on June 1. They now lead the all-time series between the clubs 55-17.
Corvallis received outstanding pitching in the series. The staff combined for 15 strikeouts, only three walks and seven hits allowed n 18 innings.
The Knights are idle on June 3. They resume their season-opening four-series road trip on June 4 with Game 1 of a three-game set at Bend, facing the Elks in a 6:35 p.m. matchup at Vince Genna Stadium. Right-handed Ethan Foley of Ohlone College will make his pitching debut for Corvallis.
That series runs through June 6, with all three games beginning at 6:35 p.m. The Knights then travel to Yakima Valley (June 7-9), return home for an off-day on June 10, then head up to Portland (June 11-13) for a series with the Pickles.
The Knights open the home portion of the season on Friday, June 14 when they host the Port Angeles Lefties at Goss Stadium.
