Corvallis Knights Hire Heather O’Malley as New General Manager

Monday, September 16, Corvallis, Ore. – The ten-time West Coast League champion Corvallis Knights announced the hiring of Heather O’Malley as the team’s new general manager.

O’Malley worked for the team this past summer in a contracted role, in partner relations. She replaces Knights Baseball Club CEO/president Dan Segel who was the acting gm the past two seasons.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring on Heather in this capacity,” said Segel. “She is a seasoned professional who has a very good feel for the market, and our business.

“In her contracted position, she impressed with her work ethic and ability to engage productively with a range of stakeholders from guests, to staff, to partners.

“Heather loves the team and its vision and will bring vitality to the organization.”

Prior to engaging with the Knights professionally, Heather worked over 20 years in medical device sales.

Born and raised in Fresno, California, Heather and her husband Pat, and their sons Jack and Hudson, relocated to Corvallis in 2015.

A fitness enthusiast, a vacation centered around Heather running in the Eugene Marathon was the inspiration behind the O’Malley’s move from the San Joaquin Valley to the Willamette Valley.

Once settled in Corvallis, the O’Malley’s became Corvallis Knights fans and later joined the ranks of the royalty that is the team’s host families. They hosted for two summers housing first Bradley Mullan of Gonzaga/Oregon and then Jonathan Stone of George Fox.

“We loved hosting and getting to know the players,” said Heather O’Malley. “It’s an honor to now work with the team, an organization so devoted to giving back to the community we adore.”

“I can’t wait to get started as general manager, to work with all our amazing partners and staff and to help further enrich, enhance and embolden Corvallis and its surrounding areas.”

Heather’s addition bolsters the Corvallis Knights front office which also includes director of operations Derek Buchheit and hospitality manager Colleen Woods.

The front office is currently working diligently in preparation for the 2025 season and another summer of affordable family fun at OSU’s Goss Stadium.

“We’re confident Heather, Derek and Colleen will manage the business well and keep the Knights vital as a community attraction,” said Segel. “They are dedicated to getting better and to taking the team to new heights.”

O’Malley also serves on the board of the Mid-Willamette Valley Fellowship of Christian Athletes and enjoys mentoring young adults at her church.
