Ty Uber Earns WCL Pitcher of the Week Honors

Monday, July 5, Portland, Ore. – West Coast League commissioner Rob Neyer announced this afternoon future Stanford pitcher Ty Uber of the Corvallis Knights as WCL Pitcher of the Week for June 28-July 4.

Uber tossed 7 innings this past Friday night vs. Ridgefield, allowing only 3 hits and no earned runs while walking none and striking out 9. The right-hander was credited with the Knights first-half title clinching 5-2 win.

For the summer, Uber is 2-0 with a 1.95 ERA over 5 appearances, 4 starts and 23 innings pitched. He’s walked 9 and struck out 31, and opponents are hitting a paltry .134 against the Ponderosa High School grad.

Corvallis finished the first half with a 18-6 record. The Knights captured a first-half WCL South title and earned their 14th consecutive playoff appearance.

Uber is the third Corvallis Knights player to earn weekly honors this season, with future Oregon State infielder Travis Bazzana (Player of the Week) and future San Jose State lefty Ethan Ross (Pitcher of the Week) also being named.

The Knights welcome the Cascade Collegiate League All-Stars to Goss Stadium for a non-league contest starting at 6:35 pm tonight. The Bellingham Bells come to town for a three-game series July 6-8.
