Stanford freshman Ethan Hott signs with Knights

Thursday, Feb. 9, Corvallis, Ore. – Stanford University freshman outfielder Ethan Hott will play for the Corvallis Knights this summer, head coach Brooke Knight announced Thursday.

Primarily a center fielder, the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder starred at Chaparral High School in Paradise Valley, Ariz., before enrolling at Stanford. He is a prospective human biology major.

Hott was rated as the No. 7 outfielder in Arizona by Perfect Game after a senior season that saw him earn all-state, all-district and all-league honors while leading Chaparral in runs (46), hits (38), walks (33), steals (22), on-base percentage (.592) and OPS (1.281). He was second in slugging (.688), batting average (.422) and home runs (5) and was team captain.

He was the Chaparral Male Athlete of the Year, the 6A Desert Valley Region Player of the Year and the Arizona Central newspaper’s top high school performer in 2022.

As a junior, Hott was also all-state, all-region and all-league, with a league-best seven homers. He was a finalist for Arizona Republic newspaper’s Arizona Baseball Player of the Year.

He is a Los Angeles Dodgers fan who plays the piano in his spare time. He also enjoys all sports, including ping-pong, and his entertainment favorites are The Town (movie), Breaking Bad (TV) and The Road (book).

Corvallis opens the 2023 season on May 25 with the annual Science, Engineering & Art Day at Goss Stadium, presented by Paventy & Brown Orthodontics.

The Knights begin their quest for a seventh-straight WCL championship against the host Ridgefield Raptors on June 2. Their home opener is set for June 15 against the Bend Elks.
