Rutschman Earns WCL Grass Roots Award at NWBCA 2024

Wednesday, January 24, Corvallis, Ore. – This past Saturday, Knights Baseball Club board member Randy Rutschman was honored at the 2024 NWBCA convention in Portland as he was presented with the West Coast League Grass Roots Award by WCL commissioner Rob Neyer.

Randy coached the Knights from 1999-2004 and played catcher for the team through the 2002 season. He excelled at Linfield as a player and later was an extraordinary coach at George Fox University. Before joining the Knights, Rutsch played City League ball with one of the better semi-pro teams in the Pacific Northwest, Taylor Electric.

His son Adley was the Golden Spikes Award winner at Oregon State, led the Beavers to a College World Series title in 2018, was the #1 pick of the 2019 MLB draft and is now an all-star catcher for the Baltimore Orioles.

Randy got to throw to Adley in the 2023 MLB All-Star Game Home Run Derby in Seattle. Adely started his college baseball playing career with the Knights in 2016 as an incoming freshman.
