Corvallis falls short on Drone Night, 13-3
Saturday, June 20, Corvallis, Ore. – The postgame drone show was the highlight of evening as Corvallis fell 13-3 to Edmonton in Game 2 of their West Coast League series before a Goss Stadium crowd of 2,169.
The RiverHawks scored 11 unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings to break a 2-2 standoff. Nine of them came in a nightmare fifth inning, when the Knights (11-10, 10-10 WCL) walked in three runs, issued five free passes overall, and committed an error.
Third baseman Ian Draper (Washington, pictured above) went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to garner Washington Park Advisors Player of the Game honors. Ethan Porter (Oregon State) hit his sixth double; Carter Stewart (Portland) also doubled and scored.
Jack Galanida (George Fox) was the most effective pitcher, allowing only one hit and no runs over 2.1 innings, with three strikeouts.
Kellen Segel (LBCC) and Xavier Rios (CSUN) finished with a scoreless inning. apiece.
The series finale is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. June 21.
Corvallis finishes the homestand with nonleague games against Gunderson Baseball on June 24 and vs. the Corvallis Gerding Construction American Legion team on June 25.
