Bend evens series with 11-2 triumph

Saturday, June 7, Bend, Ore. – Bend evened up its West Coast League series with the Knights with an 11-2 South Division victory before a crowd of 1,035 at Vince Genna Stadium.

The Knights (2-4 all, 1-4 WCL) were their own worst enemies, as they had just two hits, committed five errors and issued six walks.

Catcher Jakob Marquez (Lewis-Clark State, pictured above) was 1-for-3 and scored once. Left fielder Kellen Segel (LBCC) scored the Knights’ other run and right fielder Aidan O’Malley (Umpqua CC) had their lone RBI on a fourth-inning ground out.

The June 8 series finale begins at 5:05 p.m. Corvallis righty Sam Coffman (0-0, 4.50) of Umpqua CC will oppose Bend righty John-Paul Sauer of Tulane (1-0, 1.80) in the pitching matchup.

The Knights home opener against the Springfield Drifters is set for 6:35 p.m. June 11 at Goss Stadium.
