Brock Ketelsen of Stanford Named Top WCL Prospect

Friday, August 22, Corvallis, Ore. – Incoming Stanford frosh two-way player Brock Ketelsen was named the West Coast League’s top prospect as announced by WCL commissioner Rob Neyer this afternoon.

Ketelsen, who played last spring at Valley Christian High School in Scotts Valley, California, was terrific this summer in the field, on the mound and as a hitter and baserunner.

He broke the Knights longstanding stolen base record previously held by Nick Madrigal of Oregon State with 40 steals by swiping 45 bags over non-league, league and post-season play. Brock led the WCL in stolen bases with 35. He hit .328 in regular-season action with 5 doubles, 3 triples, 2 homers, 48 runs scored and 27 RBIs. His OPS was .925 and OBP .467. Overall, he led Corvallis in runs scored with 59, triples with 4 and batting average at .333.

Ketelsen shined in the post-season, as the sweet-swinging left-handed bat went 6-for-16 with 8 runs scored, a double, triple and 6 stolen bases.

Brock also excelled on the mound. Over the regular-season and post-season, he struck out 22 in 9.2 innings relief while only allowing 5 walks, 3 hits and one run.

“Brock was dynamic this summer,” said Corvallis Knights skipper Brooke Knight. “He changed the outcome of games on more than a few occasions. It was a pleasure coaching him. He’s a special person and baseball player.”

As part of his Knights’ experience, Brock got to play with his childhood buddy Kaleb Wing of Scotts Valley High School. Kaleb, who made 2 appearances this season for Corvallis, was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 4th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.

Brock played in the 2025 West Coast League All-Star Game in Bellingham, Washington and earned South top prospect honors. He was also a first-team all-WCL selection.

This is the second straight summer the Corvallis Knights have featured the league’s top prospect, as Kevin Takeuchi of USC was the 2024 WCL Top Prospect honoree.
