Knights look to rebound on opening homestand

June 11, 2025, Corvallis, Ore. – A long homestand could be just the magic tonic the Corvallis Knights need to get back on the winning track.

The Knights (2-5 all, 1-5 WCL) will entertain West Coast League South Division foes the Springfield Drifters and the Marion Berries for seven games. The fun starts with Wednesday’s 6:35 p.m. home opener against the Drifters.

The Drifters visit Goss Stadium on June 11-12. The Berries, the WCL’s newest franchise, come to town on June 13-15; the June 15th matchup is a 5:05 p.m. doubleheader, with two seven-inning games.

Springfield returns on June 16th to wrap up the homestand. The Knights then head to Longview, Wash., for a three-game set with the Cowlitz Black bears on June 17-19.

“We had a very tough opening road trip, but I am confident we will bounce back strongly playing in the friendly confines of Goss Stadium, before our fans,” veteran Knights coach Brooke Knight said. “Our players are motivated and eager to get back on the winning path.

“Our team will get deeper, stronger and better as our full-time players continue to filter in. I believe our drive for another playoff berth will start on Wednesday night.

“We’ve had some good pitching efforts, just not enough consistency. Our offense has also been up-and-down. I’m confident our outstanding coaching staff will address those concerns and our players will respond.”

Catcher Aiden Hazen (LBCC) leads the offense with a .400 average and a team-best five RBIs. Shortstop Braeden Mondeau (Hawaii-Hilo), a 10-day signee making a strong case for full-time status, has at least one hit in 5 of 6 games and is batting .304; incoming Oregon State outfielder Joshua Proctor is batting .292, with a pair of doubles.

Linfield lefty Zach Johnson (0-1, 6.00 ERA) will start the June 11 game with the Drifters. It’s presented by Realtor Dawn De Garmo of Town & Country Realty. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Knights 2025 schedule magnet.

Incoming Loyola Marymount right-hander Kaleb Wing gets the ball on June 12. It’s Youth Sports Night, presented by the Pure Energy Group and Big League Chew. The first 250 kids through the gates receive a pack of Knights trading cards, and a pack of Big League Chew.

The Marion Berries series kicks off at 6:35 p.m. June 13 with Mack’s Birthday Party, presented by Woodstock’s Pizza. TCU righty Trey Newmann is the Knights projected starter.

June 14th is Baseball Giveaway Night, sponsored by Heresco Chiropractic; the first 250 fans will receive a free baseball courtesy of the team’s longtime sponsor.

Father’s Day on June 15 will feature a 5:05 p.m. doubleheader against the Berries, presented by Les Schwab. Fans can play catch on the field and kids can run the bases following the second 7-inning contest.

The homestand concludes on June 16 with a rematch against Springfield. The game is presented by the Linn-Benton Community College Foundation; LBCC students will be admitted free of charge and a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded every inning.
