Derek Buchheit wrapped up his fifth season with the Knights at the conclusion of the 2023 campaign. Derek was named the 2022 Staff Member of the Year, an award he also won in 2020. He was promoted to Director of Operations following the 2021 season. He started as an intern for the Knights in 2018, and moved into a full-time role for the 2019 season. His current role includes leading the ticketing department, managing stadium operations and upkeep, and overseeing the Knights internship program, among others.

Derek graduated in June 2018 from the University of Oregon, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Business. He is from Stayton, Oregon, where he grew up playing baseball, basketball, and soccer, and graduated from Stayton High School in 2014. Derek resides in Beaverton, and in his spare time enjoys hanging out with friends, skiing, golfing, playing tennis, going to the movies, coaching youth basketball, and attending Blazers games.
