Thursday, July 23, Corvallis, Ore. – Corvallis scored 12 times in the fourth inning and destroyed Bend 20-2 before a Wilson Motor’s Night crowd of 2,258.
The Knights (26-20, 22-20 WCL, 9-6 second half) knocked the baseball all over Goss Stadium in setting a season-high for runs. Corvallis also took the series 2-1, bouncing back from a 14-9 loss in the previous game.
Corvallis sent 16 batters to the plate in the fourth. The first 14 batters reached base via a base hit, a walk, error or fielder’s choice and 12 of them scored. The game was tied 2-2 when the Knights came to bat.
Second baseman Berkley Reents (George Fox, pictured above) had three hits, three runs and four RBIs, doubling his RBI total entering the game. Third baseman Tate Hammond (incoming UCLA) also had three hits and three runs.
They shared Washington Park Advisors Player of the Game honors.
Center fielder Max Medina had two hits, three runs and two RBIs. DH Zane Garvey (Portland) and first baseman Maverek Russell (UCSB) had three RBIs apiece; Russell had been sidelined by an injury since June 24.
Shortstop Ryan Severns (UCSB) drove in three runs. Every Knight in the starting lineup scored and had at least one hit.
Starting pitcher Matthew Sherwood (PLU) allowed two runs and two hits in four innings but was not involved in the decision.
Reliever Luke Schoeffler (Linfield) earned the victory with four scoreless innings to close out the night. He spaced five hits and struck out three.
The Knights head to Yakima Valley on July 24-26. The projected starting rotation is lefty Colin Nowaczyk (2-1, 2.79) of Nebraska, incoming Stanford righty Bryce Hill (1-1, 3.86) and Cal Poly righty Arlo Pendleton (1-2, 4,73).
Corvallis concludes its home schedule with a six-game homestand from July 28-ug. 2. Ridgefield is in town on July 28-30, followed by Yakima Valley on July 31-Aug. 2.
Corvallis announced two roster moves, aimed at bolstering the offense. The newest Knights are catcher Aiden Hazen and outfielder Jordan Hockett, each of whom have LBCC connections.
Hazen is a 6-foot, 198-pounder from Junction City and Marist High School. He hit .311 in 24 games at LBCC in 2026, with four doubles and 15 RBIs. He played for the Knights briefly as a 10-day signee in 2025.
The 5-9, 185-pound Hockett played two seasons at LBCC before transferring to Cal State Monterey Bay. He hit .283 in 19 games for the Otters, with a homer and six RBIs. He played at Mt. Spokane High in Spokane.
The crowd of 2,258 raised the season attendance to 39,875 in 26 dates, an average of 1,534 per opening.
