Brooks Hatch Blog: Alum Nick Torres Has Big Season in Mexico

Happy Wednesday, everyone, from the world-wide headquarters (WWHQ) of the Corvallis Knights, your 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 West Coast League champions!

Former Knights’ outfielder Nick Torres (pictured above with the Knights, 2012) just completed an outstanding season with Puebla in the Mexican League. The Mexican League is the equivalent of triple-A baseball in the United States.

The Cal Poly product hit .315 (134-425) in 113 games, with 24 homers and 86 RBIs. The Parakeets finished 56-60 overall, in fourth place in the South Division.

A fourth-round selection by San Diego in the 2014 MLB draft, Torres played six seasons of affiliated baseball in the San Diego and Texas organizations. He reached triple-A twice, with El Paso in 2016 and Round Rock in 2018 before signing with Puebla this offseason.

The Knights set a franchise record for total attendance this season by drawing 59,357 fans to Goss Stadium in 36 regular-season and playoff games.

We averaged 1,721 fans per regular-season game, and 1,071 fans for the four playoff games. Thanks to the best fans in the West Coast League.
