Alumni Notebook, Feb. 16-22

Tuesday, February 24, Corvallis, Ore. – Many Knights alumni continued hot starts to their 2026 collegiate seasons. Here are five who shined last week:

Thomas Ferroggiaro (2024-2025), 2B, Santa Clara
In five games last week Thomas Ferroggiaro stuffed the stat sheet as the Broncos went 3-2 against Cal, San Jose St., and UC Davis. Ferroggiaro went 6/19 (.316) with 4 walks and an RBI to go along with 8 runs scored. Thomas has now hit safely in all eight SCU games this season.

Jackson Flora (2024), RHP, UC Santa Barbara
Flora was his normal dominant self last Friday, striking out 6 in 5 innings pitched to kick-off a weekend sweep of Portland. He scattered 4 hits and gave up 1 earned run, a solo shot from 2025 Knights slugger Cole Katayama-Stall, to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Ty Horn (2024), RHP, Nebraska
Nebraska’s #1 starter and 2024 West Coast League all-star had another strong start to begin the season, throwing 5 innings of one-run ball against Louisville this past Friday. The junior from Halstead, KS gave up 5 hits and struck out 5.

Payton Riske (2024), RHP, Utah
Riske threw 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win against San Diego St. in Tony Gwynn Stadium on Saturday. Payton was sharp, giving up just two hits despite striking out only one Aztec batter.

Kaden Segel (2021-2024), RHP, Portland
Segel entered out of the bullpen to start the 4th inning last Friday and didn’t leave the game, throwing 5 innings of scoreless ball to keep the Pilots within striking distance in an eventual 4-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara. Kaden, a four-year Knight and first-team all-WCL in 2022 and 2024, gave up two hits and a walk while striking out five.
